Designing Global Futures: Matteo Ragni Brings European Vision to STYLE Bangkok 2025

The return of STYLE Bangkok 2025 marks more than just a trade fair—it’s a convergence of vision, craftsmanship, and emerging global perspectives. With over 400 exhibitors across 700 booths, this year’s edition promises to ignite inspiration and uncover new pathways for designers, entrepreneurs, as well as buyers. One of the fair’s key highlights is a special design seminar led by Matteo Ragni, a celebrated Italian designer, who will shed light on emerging trends and untapped opportunities for Thai furniture in the global hospitality sector. The seminar takes place on Friday 4 April 2025, and attendance is free of charge.

Hosted by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) in collaboration with the Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT), the seminar is titled ‘New Trends in Contemporary Design: Opportunities and Insights for Thai Entrepreneurs in a Global Market.’ It will be held at the Main Stage, Hall 1 of Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from 10:30 to 12:00 hrs.

Ragni is a multi-award-winning designer with more than two decades of experience who earned the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Award at just 29 years old. As both a designer and creative director, he is known for challenging the boundaries of function and form. Today, his influence extends far beyond Italy through lectures and collaborations across the globe.

He also serves as design consultant for ‘Host & Home’, a DITP initiative aimed at positioning Thai lifestyle products in the high-end hospitality markets of Italy and Europe. The programme brings together Thai entrepreneurs from the furniture, home décor, hospitality textiles, and living sectors to develop export-ready collections in close consultation with European design specialists.

Through Host & Home, Thai products have been featured at Salone del Mobile—the world’s leading furniture and design exhibition held alongside Milan Design Week. These two hallmark events are internationally recognised for presenting boundary-pushing creations that spotlight design, creativity, and forward-looking technologies for the lifestyle and hospitality sectors.

Since its launch in 2015, the programme has helped countless Thai businesses refine their products and gain a foothold in the European market.

Thai-made furniture and homeware have been well received by distributors, hotels, resorts, designers, and even yacht businesses, with confirmed orders reaching tens of millions of baht within a year. The secret lies in their distinctive aesthetics, contemporary design language, practical versatility, and commitment to sustainability—whether through upcycled materials or eco-conscious production. These values resonate strongly with Europe’s growing emphasis on ethical and environmentally responsible design.

Today, furniture accounts for 70% of Thailand’s total production exports, making it a critical sector to watch closely. With ties to key industries such as timber, textiles, and plastics, it holds the potential to spur growth across the wider manufacturing ecosystem. Yet in a world of rapid change, staying ahead of the curve is more important than ever.

Join us to explore what’s next for Thai furniture on the global stage at this unmissable seminar: ‘New Trends in Contemporary Design: Opportunities and Insights for Thai Entrepreneurs in a Global Market’ by Matteo Ragni, part of STYLE Bangkok 2025, running 2-6 April 2025 at QSNCC.
