DITP and GIT Announce the 71st Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair: A Spectacular Showcase of World-Class Gems and Jewelry
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT, along with key public and private sector partners, have officially announced the 71st edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair or “Bangkok Gems”. The fair is set to take place from February 22–26, 2025, at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and is expected to generate over 3.5 billion THB in trade value.
Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of DITP, emphasized the significance of Bangkok Gems in driving Thailand’s gem and jewelry sector, stating: "Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry remains one of the nation’s strongest economic pillars, continuously growing despite global economic challenges. In 2024, the export value of gems and jewelry (excluding unwrought gold) reached $9.6 billion USD, exceeding expectations with a 10.99% growth. Thailand ranks as the world’s second-largest exporter of silver jewelry and third-largest exporter of colored gemstones, with gemstone exports doubling in value over the past decade. Global mining giants such as Fura Gems and Gemfields have chosen Thailand as a hub for gemstone auctions, reaffirming its status as a major global trading center."
Recognized as Asia’s oldest and most prestigious gem and jewelry trade event, Bangkok Gems is among the world’s top four industry fairs. The event has seen remarkable growth in recent years, attracting key buyers and exhibitors worldwide. A survey from the 70th edition found that Bangkok Gems was rated the most satisfying trade fair among international gem and jewelry exhibitions. This edition, the fair is honored to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who will preside over the opening ceremony.
To meet overwhelming demand, the exhibition space has been expanded by 100 additional booths. However, a large waiting list remains after registration closed. The 71st edition will host over 1,100 leading exhibitors from Thailand and abroad, showcasing their finest products across 2,600 booths. The event is expected to attract over 40,000 international visitors.
Mr. Sumed Prasongpongchai, Director-General of GIT, highlighted the fair’s global reputation that "Bangkok Gems is widely recognized as a premier destination for fine gems and jewelry. It offers an unparalleled selection, especially in colored gemstones, which account for nearly 50% of all booths—solidifying Thailand’s role as the world's colored gemstone hub."
Beyond product showcases, the fair will feature exclusive events such as:
Networking Reception that connects global industry professionals
New Faces zone, spotlighting emerging designers and brands
International Seminars & Workshops
Export Clinic for industry insights
Special Exhibition: “AMOUR ÉTERNEL HAUTE JOAILLERIE” – A collection of jewelry pieces personally designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, crafted by Thailand’s finest artisans, showcasing her commitment to preserving Thai craftsmanship and promoting the industry on a global scale
