"Design Hall" … a highlight NEVER to be missed!
The ‘Design Hall’ is undoubtedly an important highlight of the TIFF 2008 event you should not miss. It’s an exciting all-in-one venue where outstanding furniture designs and latest innovations by leading furniture entrepreneurs will be displayed.
Now, let’s take a peek into what the ‘Design Hall’ has to offer.
Doi Tung Development Project by Mae Fah Luang Foundation
Initiated by the lifetime work of the late HRH Princess Srinakarin, the project has been operated by the ‘Sustainable Alternative Development’ approach with main objectives to reduce deforestation, unconstructive farming and opium plantation, as well as, to promote occupational opportunities and environmental awareness among local people.
Products from this project to be on display include handiworks of different kinds; such as, scarves, stoles, furniture fabric, handmade clothing and home decorative items made from natural materials such as cotton, sedge, marihuana fibres and flaxes. Other items of interest include dining table utensils, plate mats, handkerchiefs, ceramics and mulberry-paper products. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime certifies that “income from the sales of these products, through the Sustainable Alternative Development approach, contributes to solving global drugs-related problems.”

Undoubtedly, the key highlight of the company’s showcase will be the new ‘Liana’ furniture collection. Furniture items in this collection are made form a vine-like synthesized material, which is hand-woven for increased durability. The ‘Living Outdoor’ set comprises a table, a sofa and chairs.
