New Designs Likely to Attract More International Buyers

Growing worldwide interest in Thailand's diverse range of innovative furniture products is expected to translate into highly active matchmaking and business sessions being conducted at the Thailand International Furniture Fair 2005 (TIFF 2005), to be held at IMPACT Exhibition Centre in northern Bangkok from 4-8 March 2005.

Already acclaimed as the region’s top furniture exhibition attracting international buyers eager to source a wide variety of traditional and contemporary designs, TIFF 2005 is organized annually by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Thai Ministry of Commerce, to showcase furniture for the home, office, garden and children. The prime material is wood, with increasing production of furniture made of leather, metal, rattan and water hyacinth.

International buyers are attracted to Thailand's quality production of traditional Asian styles, as well as the fascinating innovations and new ideas now coming onto the market as a result of the growing influence of young Thai designers.

Almost 8,000 trade visitors attended TIFF 2004, including 2,770 overseas visitors - primarily from Japan, USA, UK and Asia. Of these, approximately 90% indicated they would return for TIFF 2005. At the same time, exhibitors totaled 229 companies, predominantly Thai, occupying 1,211 booths.

Based on the results of previous fairs, the DEP expects increased attendance of both buyers and exhibitors at TIFF 2005.
