Bangkok RHVAC 2005
Conditioned for Optimum Business Prosperity

Bangkok Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning 2005 (Bangkok RHVAC 2005) promises to set new benchmarks in the industry as it builds on the success of the previous biennial fairs, with advances in indoor air quality chosen as this year’s highlight.

Mrs. Chantra Puranariksha, Director-General of the Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce revealed: “Bangkok RHVAC 2005, which is the fifth of its kind, will be held alongside the first Bangkok Electric and Electronics 2005 fair from September 14-18 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). This will be a good opportunity for businessmen and all concerns in these industries.”

Over 600 exhibition booths representing over 300 local and overseas manufacturers are ready to participate in the fair on the total area of 20,000 square meters. An estimated 4,000 trade visitors from around the world will visit Bangkok RHVAC 2005, and the public days are likely to attract at least 30,000 people. This will mark the first year at BITEC for Bangkok RHVAC, as the increasing popularity of the event has necessitated the move to a larger venue.

Thailand is one of the world’s major air-conditioner manufacturing countries. In 2003, Thailand ranked as the world’s third largest air-conditioner exporters, after the People’s Republic of China and the United States, with an export value of US$1,449 million. Thailand has captured 8% of the world’s market share. Some 70% of total Thai exports went to Europe, the United States, and Asia. Growing domestic production is expected to lead to export expansion to Africa and the Middle East regions in the future.

Nevertheless, Thailand has to face with the challenge of high competition from China, which currently dominates the world’s market. The Thai manufacturers therefore need to adjust strategies to deal with the fierce competition by improving production technology in order to reduce costs and become more competitive for both the domestic and international markets.

At present, manufacturers in Thailand – both Thai and international brands – have focussed on the integration of new technologies including the “Nano technology” to their production. Air-conditioning technology for health has become popular as manufacturers respond to the health-conscious trend of the customers. The trend reflects that the Thai air-conditioning industry has adjusted well to remain competitive in the world market.

Organized by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, Bangkok RHVAC 2005 encompasses the entire spectrum of the industry, with manufacturers, investors, and entrepreneurs from around the world showcasing new products and innovations to potential buyers. The highlight of this year’s fair will be the latest advances in indoor air quality.

“Leading companies from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, India, the USA, and the EU will display their products at the fair; while trade visitors are expected from these countries as well as Japan, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and throughout the ASEAN region,” said Mrs. Chantra.
