The Thailand Logistics Fair 2006, recently held between July 13th–15th, 2006, was indeed a great success beyond expectations. The grand event featured as many
as 133 exhibition booths and welcomed 9,410 visitors, a remarkable 46% increase in visitors’ numbers over the past year. Of this figure, 8,996 visitors were from within Thailand, a 45% increase, and 414 visitors were from overseas, a 72% increase.
Most of these foreign visitors came from the United States, Japan, Singapore, China, Italy and Germany. These increases indicate that Thai business entrepreneurs are becoming more aware of the significance of logistics in their business, as well as,
note that international business communities are confident in Thailand’s capabilities to become the regional logistics hub in Southeast Asia.
Mr. A. Josef Lederer, Senior Vice President Corporate Communications, Schenker Deutschland AG, one of the overseas visitors to this year’s event, stated that,
“Thailand is a country with superb logistics facilities and capabilities, and is undoubtedly well on its way to become the logistics hub in this region. With its strategic location
as a long-standing trading hub, and with the new, state-of-the-art Suvarnabhumi Airport to be up and running soon, Thailand is set to become a gateway to markets throughout the Southeast Asian region. And this year’s event is about as large and as comprehensive as grand logistics fairs in Munich and Shanghai. And the fact that the event welcomed so many visitors this year, it will certainly contribute to a brighter future for the Thai logistics industry.”
Mr. Monchai Sangruji, Manager ,Promotion Division (FN-P) Cargo & Mail Commercial Department, Thai Airways International Plc., stated that, “It is now the third time that THAI has participated in the Thailand Logistics Fair event and our aims in participating were to create a positive brand image of THAI and to promote the logistics capabilities of the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. Thanks to continuous support from the royal Thai government and the fact that more educational institutes are opening training courses regarding the logistics field, we welcomed a significantly increased number of visitors this year. This is, in fact, a very good sign because logistics is becoming more and more important in today’s business world.”
Mr. Thotsaporn Thippayawat, an SME business owner visiting the event, noted that,
“I came to this event to learn about the latest logistics innovations and technologies that have become readily available. I believe that appropriate logistics and supply chain systems will contribute greatly to minimizing my operation costs, as well as, enhancing my overall business operation.”
