His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Preecha Laohapongchana, presided over the MOU signing ceremony to establish the ‘Thai Logistics & Distribution Center in Dubai’, between Pro Freight International (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and
Swift Freight International Co., Ltd. from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The ceremony took place at the Thailand Logistics Fair 2006 organized by the Department of Export Promotion (DEP), between July 13th-15th, 2006, at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Mr. Wittayakorn Maneenetr, the Director of the DEP Thai Trade Center, Dubai,
stated that, “The signing ceremony to establish the ‘Thai Logistics & Distribution Center in Dubai’ aims at assisting Thai exporters to increase their export volumes to the UAE, to the Middle East and to 16 countries in Africa. Through the advanced and far-reaching distribution network of Swift Freight International, and with our own Thai Products Distribution Center based in Dubai, we can reach these prospective markets much more effectively. Additionally, Swift Freight International also offered to help us in penetrating Thai products into 16 African nations by providing assistance in market examination,
as well as, risk elimination, in the form of securing payments from potential buyers.”
“This project is initiated by the Thai government with determination to reach further into the untapped, yet highly lucrative markets in the Middle East and Africa. We expect our exports to Africa to increase by 50% this year. Products of major interest in this market are mosquito nets, fishing nets, fishing seines, fashion clothes, plastic baskets and food products. So, this is a great chance for Thai SMEs and small entrepreneurs.”
