HASLA urges Thai entrepreneurs to improve
current logistics systems for hazardous substances

Mr. Mahabir Koder, Chairman of the Hazardous Substances Logistics Association (HASLA), stated that, “Currently, there is considerable utilization of hazardous substances in various Thai production sectors including the agricultural and industrial fields. These substances include noxious gases and substances that are oxidizing toxic, infectious, corrosive and radioactive. So, it is vital to for Thai entrepreneurs to have safe and dependable logistics systems in place for these poisonous items, to ensure optimum safety for everybody involved and society as a whole.
In fact, the implementation of appropriate hazardous substances logistics systems is an important requirement in many developed countries which are key markets for Thai products. Thai entrepreneurs are required to learn how to keep their hazardous substances safe while being transported and what measures are to be taken in case of emergency.”

“Thai entrepreneurs and exporters dealing with hazardous substances need to improve quickly on their logistics systems, and strive to comply with the demanding requirements of The United Nations regarding the transport of hazardous goods throughout European Union countries.
The more we can comply with these stringent requirements, the higher we will be regarded by our trading partners in those countries, and therefore the higher the chance of increasing our export volumes. Should any entrepreneur, either from the government or private sector, want more information regarding appropriate regulations and procedures for transporting hazardous substances, HASLA will be most happy to help. This is, in fact, a social-contribution service we have provided to Thai entrepreneurs for sometime, and it has contributed greatly to increasing Thai export volumes over the past years, and eventually, to improving the Thai economy.”

Mr. Mahabir further noted that, “More and more entrepreneurs are placing greater importance on their logistics systems for hazardous substances.
This was evident at the recent Thailand Logistics Fair 2006 event,
where the HASLA booth welcomed a record-high number of visitors interested in our service.”
