The roadshow has gained enthusiastic interest from exhibitors, visitors, as well as the press at the European shows.
According to participants to the Decorate Life, Thai glassware, kitchenware, home decorative items, artificial flowers and handicrafts have been sought after in European and Middle Eastern markets. The keen buyers are promised to find the variety and diversity of the high-quality products ranging from gifts, premiums, home decorative items, home textiles, handicrafts, housewares, toys, stationery and office supplies at BIG&BIH-October 2008.
Inside Industry
Despite the economic slowdown in the world’s main markets like the US, the export value of Thai toys during the first four months of 2008 has grown 20% compare to the same period last year, resulting from the price rise and the increase of orders from new markets: said the President of the Thai Toy Industry Association, Ms. Duangjai Koosrivinij. In 2008, the Ministry of Commerce anticipated that the total export value of Thai toys would finish at around USD 220.64 million, a 5% increase from the previous year.
Thailand’s main export markets for toys that altogether possess 60% of the country’s total export figure are USA, Japan, France and Australia respectively, while Canada and Russia are up-and-rising markets for the industry.
At present, there are about 200 toy producers in the country, 90% of which are original design manufacturers (ODM).
