The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) organized a pilot program ‘BIG Design Week’ to keep Thai
designers and exporters updated with the up-and-coming global market trend on March 3-7, 2008.
The activity was set up to give the chance for Thai producers and designers to share their experience and
opinion as well as to present their master pieces of products and new collections. The campaign also included
an in-depth seminar, workshop and lecture on ‘Design Trend 2009’ topic by world renowned experts in
marketing and design industries in the three major markets – U.S.A, Europe and Japan.

Mr. Stephen Burks from Readymade Projects Inc. was the celebrated guest speaker on the US market,
while the European market was addressed by UK’s Global Color Research Limited, and Japan market was
discussed by Mr. Kazuhisa Sadogawa of I & R System Co., Ltd.

BIG Design Week was launched before the opening of Bangkok International Gift Fair & Bangkok International
Houseware Fair or BIG&BIH, the international trade fairs held twice annually in April and October.
The 25th BIG&BIH will be on April 17-22, 2008 at the Challenger, IMPACT, Muangthong Thani.
