This Association is known as " สมาคมอุตสาหกรรมสิ่งทอไทย" In English, it is called " The Thai manufacturing Association "
HISTORY
The Thai Textile Manufacturing Association was established on April 11, 1960
under the
patronage of the Minister of Industry, Mr. Boon Charoenchai and
the Director-General
of Industrial Promotion Department, Mr. Saard Hongyont;
and with the American asviser to
the Ministry of Industry at that time as adviser to the Association.
The founding members of the Association were as follows :

The Thai Weaving & Knitting Factory Ltd.
Tai Seng Weaving Co.,Ltd (Thai Yazaki - Mahaguna Co.,Ltd )
Thai Cotton Mills ( 1964 ) Co.,Ltd
Thai Blanket Industry Co.,Ltd.
The Thai Knitting Factory Co.,Ltd.
The Phiphatanakit Textile Co.,Ltd.
Sin Hua Knitting Factory Ltd.,Part.
Ther Thonburi Textile Mills Ltd
The found and first president of the Association was Maj. Gen. Premarn Adireksarn
( presently Pol. Gen. Pramarn Adireksarn)
The current president is Mr. Phongsak Assakul, managing director of the Bangkok
Weaving Mill Ltd.
The Thai Textile Manufacturing Association was originally registered as "Textile Association of Thailand" Its first headquarters was temporarily located at the Industrial Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry.
In 1961 the Association moves its offices to the premises of the Thai Textile Co.,Ltd Suapa Road, Bangkok Office space and eQuipment were provided with the courtesy of Maj. Gen. Pramarn Adireksan.
During 1962-1964, as the Association became more established and gained recognition
among local and international textile industry circle, there was a necessity to expand its
activities and scope of services.
On October 13,1965 the Association moved to a new office at North Sathorn Road, Bangkok.
On January 15,1970 the Association moved to new premises at Hotel Manhattan,
Sukhumvit Road, Soi 15, Bangkok.
In complicationce with the Commercial Association Act, the " Textile Association of Thailand "
was renamed " The Thaitextile Manufacturing Association " on May 28,1971.
On March 26, 1979 the Thai Textile Manufacturing Association moved to its present premises at Nos. 454-460 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 22 (near Washington Theatre ) Bangkok 10110, Thailand.
OBJECTIVES
To promote and support industrial enterprises in the categories of spinning, weaving, knitting,
dyeing,bleaching, finishing printing of fabrics and other textile manufacturing enterprises in Thailand.
To support and assist the members of the Association in solving various problems confronting their textile manufacturing enterprises, toconduct research in onnection with the textile manufacturing processes., to exchange and disseminate technical knowledges and business news among members.
To promote and upgrade the quality of goods produced by members to standard level, and to conduct research for mothods to improve production and sales for the benefits of members.
To promote the production of members so that the quantity produced is sufficient to meet the demand of the market.
To corperate with the Government in promoting textile industries in Thailand, such as, in redering aid to small-scale industries and cottage industries, in training Thai personnel in textile manufacturing as well as in cooperating with the Government to solve problems in production and sales of textiles.
To follow the movement of textile markets both domestic and aboard for the benefits of members.
To promote unity among members of the Association, and to act as compromisor in any dispute among members.
