


BIG+BIH April 2010 Post Show Report

BIG +BIH ; the leading international trade fair in ASEAN
BIG + BIH, one of ASEAN's leading international trade fairs for trendy gifts and lifestyle products recognized as Thailand's excellent platform for designers and new entrepreneurs to show their latest collections. The 29th BIG +BIH 2010 was held during 20-25 April, 2010 at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok, Thailand.
This duo fair is bi-anually organized by the Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce of the royal Thai government and supported by the Lifestyle Products Federation consisting of Thai Gift, Premiums & Decorative Association, Thai Toy Industry Association, Thai Houseware Trade Association, the Northern Handicrafts Manufactures and Exporters Association (NOHMEX), Thai Stationeries and Office Supplies Association, the Design & Objects Association and Home and Decorative Association.
BIG+BIH 2010 "Soul and Style of the Orient" Theme
This year's theme "Soul and Style of the Orient" represents the uniqueness of product showcases at the fair; a mixture of the beauty of the East and the charm of the West.

Exhibitors
595 Thai and overseas companies with a total of 1,601 booths participated in this April fair. 1,307 booths from 493 Thai companies and 30 booths from 27 overseas companies such as Switzerland, Indonesia, Korea, Ghana, and CLM joined the event.

Visitors
The over all number of visitors on both trade and public days was over 100,000. The number of visitors on public days was 95,000. The number of visitors (trade days) was 9,402. 7,798 of which were domestic visitors and 1,604 were international visitors. Despite the uncontrollable factors; the concern over the closing of many airports in Europe because of Volcano Eruption in Iceland and the effects from domestic political unrest, the overseas visitor numbers decreased only about 24% from the previous year, less than the organizer has estimated. The major international visitors were from Japan, United States of America, The People Republic of China, India and Germany and much more.
Exhibitors
Varieties of latest collections were displayed ranging from gifts, home decorative items, arts and handicrafts, artificial flowers and trees, beauty and spa products, household products, home textile products, toys to corporate premiums and stationery.
Special Activities

Design in Thailand Exhibition: presented the Home Textiles Butterfly Award 2010 and the Free the butterfly Exhibition that showed the textile products design develped by the KIDDI group, a group of designers such as Jarypatch Acavasamith and Associated Professor Dr. Singh Indara – Xhuto
Gift and Home Decorative Design Award 2010: an exhibition showcasing the outstanding souvenirs, home and decorative products which won the Save & Safe Living Competitions that organized by the Department of Export Promotion in corporation with Thai Gift, Premiums & Decorative Association
Design Forum Exhibition: the prototype of the home decorative products that jointly created by Thai exporters and Thai designers. The exhibition showed Thai product trend 2011-2012
Demark Exhibition: showcasing the products that won the Design Excellence Award 2009 (Demark); 49 items from 27 companies were displayed to create an awareness and reflect the pride of the winners as a national product design inspiration.
